After 15 years at Trails Village Center, ArtWalk, produced by Mark Vranesh, has transformed into a new event. This one partners with the Las Vegas Farmers Market and is called Art at the Market.

It’s planned for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Bruce Trent Park, 1600 N. Rampart Blvd. The Las Vegas Farmers Market has been a fixture in the valley since 1999. It now features 40 booths. Some are craft-oriented, while some are food-oriented. The market is the brainchild of Steve and Ginger Johnson.

Jan Eisenreich walked across the blacktop parking lot on a sizzling Sunday morning, surrounded by an environment so dry and hot that it seemed incapable of sustaining life. But over her arm Eisenreich had several plastic bags filled with juicy-fresh fruits and vegetables, and under tented canopies around her were tables filled with an assortment of nature's bounty.

Fresh produce and homemade products are available at the weekly Farmers Market in Summerlin. The market brings produce and products from more than a dozen vendors throughout the Western United States, according to Steve Johnson, event coordinator who oversees the Farmer's Market for The Summerlin Council, the nonprofit arm of the Summerlin Community Association dedicated to the social, recreational, cultural and educational enrichment of residents and co-sponsor of the weekly Farmers Market.

This summer, with the opening of a new farmers market in downtown Las Vegas, it seems as though farmers markets are flourishing in town. The Las Vegas Farmers Market, founded by the husband and wife team Ginger and Steve Johnson, was the first farmers market to be held in Las Vegas in 1999. Now the original Las Vegas Farmers Market has grown to three locations. You can find the market every Tuesday from 4pm - 8pm at Gardens Park in Summerlin, every Wednesday from 4pm - 8pm at Bruce Trent Park at Rampart & Vegas Drive, and the first and third Saturday of every month from 10 am - 2pm at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs.

Every Wednesday afternoon in Summerlin, Ginger and Steve Johnson shuck fresh ears of corn, lather them with garlic butter and serve them to residents attending the only farmers' market in the city of Las Vegas.

Organic fruits and vegetables, hand-painted crafts and Louisiana barbecue also beckon their parents for four hours each week to a parking lot at Gowan Road and Rainbow Boulevard.
